When I created the ArticleWishlist page, the categories were meant to serve as general points that often create valuable news. Stuff to watch out for, if you like.
In this spirit, GNOME 3.0 could be considered an "event" to report about, including previews, preparation, etc. What about the next GUADEC? Application reviews are part of "functionality". Likewise, while an article about GTK-Perl might have become irrelevant today, but it's still useful as an example to look for trends to report about. Replace GTK-Perl with C#/Mono or Vala and you get a more up-to.date article idea.
I'm not saying it's the best way to organize it. Maybe, it's too abstract.
Best Regards,
Claus
P.S.: Good to see people working on a new edition. Sorry I missed that IRC meeting.

I spent a few minutes trying to clean up the Article Wishlist wiki
page on lgo (http://live.gnome.org/GnomeJournal/ArticleWishlist)
I added two sections at the top - GNOME 3.0, and Applications Reviews.
Sri and I were brainstorming some applications new to GNOME last
week, and I added those there.
Other than some minor additions, everything below that is legacy
ideas. For those that have been with the GJ team longer than I have,
can you browse through the list and see what is still relevant? I'm
sure that most of the article ideas are, but I thought this might be a
good chance to do some spring cleaning, especially with our hopes of
recruiting new team members, and this is one of the first pages they
will take a look at.
Lastly, is there a better way to organize this information?
Other pages on GJ that I could use some help with reviewing:
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeJournal/PlaceForNewIdeas : What other new
ideas might we have in marketing GJ? Are these ideas still relevant?
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeJournal/ArticleSubmissionQueue : I'm going
to work on this page as it hasn't been updated since 2007 with
information around the next release, in addition to some work I'm
trying to do around a release calendar.
Thanks for the help.
Paul
