Thought you guys might find this interesting as a reference point for
a printable version of the Journal for GUADEC or other conferences. A
friend forwarded this along...

This is a free magazine created by some people in the Blender community
(the modelling program). Don't bother paying too much attention to the
details of the content (it's good, but you probably have to be a 3d-
modelling or Blender addict to be interested in this stuff), but just
flick through the pages (oh, and read the preview of the next Gimp
release -- interesting to see an outsider perspective on these things
sometimes; Blender artists use the Gimp a lot for creating textures,
etc, but they are generally strictly users, not contributors for that
tool).
What caught my eye was that this is nothing too fancy, but they have put
a fair bit of thought and effort into the presentation, so it is a very
effective way to pass around some information about this program (four
tutorials, a couple of reviews, some helpful tips and a few images).
Something to hold up as an example of "documentation for the public can
be really good". They have a few problems (a few places assume
community-insider knowledge, for example), but it's a very impressive
first attempt.
