Based on Raymond's findings and confirming listadmin functionality on two of my
machines (Debian Stable and FreeBSD 8.1) I'm going to close this ticket.

listadmin is simple to configure, manages multiple lists (I have _all_ lists
configured in my installation) and readily available by most distributions. See
http://blogs.gnome.org/sysadmin/2010/10/24/improved-mailman-list-moderation-with-listadmin/
for instructions as needed.
