The comparison between svn.gnome.org and git.gnome.org is two-fold,

1. It shows that with svn.gnome.org, developers from Europe have been
spoiled with very fast checkouts,
thus they are likely to consider git clones to be slow in any case.
2. It shows the relative Internet connection speed that ones has
(ADSL, academic connection, etc), and how many ms is the extra delay
when connecting to the US from Europe (260ms-75ms = 185ms in the above
case).
