Hi All,
A proposal for FOSS Workout titled "Porting Anumaan: (A
perspective based predictive text entry system ) to GNOME desktop."
was submitted by me and the details are below.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Abstract
Anumaan is a perspective based predictive text entry system which
employs N-Gram Language modeling technique to generate text
predictions when and as the user is typing in. In these workout
session we will try and port it as another input method technique on
GNOME desktop. Currently this application is written in Java and some
partial work had already been done to port it to GNOME desktop. This
project is similar in some sense to Dasher and GOK but extends these
ideas to do sentence level prediction.
Pre-requisites
Basic Understanding of following are required: 1. Java 2. Java Native
Interface 3. C/C++ 4. GTK+ 5. ATK, AT-SPI and other Accessibility
libraries. 6. Some basic understanding of CORBA (ORBit, Bonobo etc.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Some description of the Project:
Anumaan is an Open Source perspective based, adaptive, Predictive Text
Entry System. A Predictive Text Entry System facilitates text entry by
anticipating words and sentences. This helps enhance the text input
speed for those who do not have high keyboard speed and reduces errors
due to data entry.
The current application employs N-gram Language modeling technique to
generate predictions.
Main Objectives
* Port/Create a Predictive ‌Text Entry System (called Anumaan) for
GNOME desktop.
* Bind Current application to GNOME desktop using accessibility
libraries.
Agenda:
* Develop & implement Techniques to put text on GNOME applications (in
Editable Text Areas) using Accessibility framework from the existing
Anumaan application which is written in Java.
* Stabilize the existing prediction of Anumaan.
