1. We'll Miss You, Bambino
--------------------------------------------------------------
The GNOME community says goodbye to one of it's own. Ettore Perazolli, one
of the main hackers of Evolution and the number three employee of Ximian
passed away suddenly on December 10. Our hearts and thoughts go out to
Ettore's Family and Friends. Good bye Ettore, we hope you dwell in a
better place and in peace.
==============================================================
2. New Foundation Board Elected!
--------------------------------------------------------------
A new foundation board has been elected. Good luck to the new Foundation
board for the new year!
The new foundation board consists of:
Owen Taylor - Glynn Foster - Jody Goldberg - Jeff Waugh - Luis Villa -
Jonathan Blandford - Nat Friedman - Leslie Proctor - Bill Haneman - Dave
Camp - Malcolm Tredinnick
==============================================================
3. GNOME Development Release 2.5.1!
--------------------------------------------------------------
GNOME Development release 2.5.1 "Hey, I'm at least housebroken" is ready
for consumption for those of you with strong commits and great bug
bashing-fu. Bugbuddy and Bugzilla are ready for you!

==============================================================
4. Robert Love to give help desktop/linux integration
--------------------------------------------------------------
>From Jeff's blog is an interesting tidbit. Robert Love is being hired by the
Ximian/Suse division to work on kernel support of the desktop.

==============================================================
5. Anjuta 1.2.0 Released
--------------------------------------------------------------
Anjuta 1.2.0 features a number of new bugfixes, and according to Naba
Kumar, the lead developer, it is 99% stable.
Anjuta is a versatile IDE for C and C++, written for GTK/GNOME. Features
include project management, application wizards, an onboard interactive
debugger, and a powerful source editor with browsing and syntax
highlighting.

==============================================================
6. Evolution 1.5.0 Released
--------------------------------------------------------------
Evolution 1.5 has fixed some major architectural issues and sees the
splitting out of the addressbook, calendar and task data access into a
separate library for other projects to use. Shell components are now much
more simplified. Note that is a development release - and not for general
day-to-day use. Evolution is a project to provide integrated mail,
addressbook and calendaring functionality to the GNOME desktop.

==============================================================
7. GNOME System Tools 0.30.0 Released
--------------------------------------------------------------
The 0.30.0 release of GNOME System Tools has been mostly for frontends
polishing, aimed to make easier the distro porting that will happen in the
next releases.
The GNOME System Tools are a set of cross-platform configuration utilities
for Linux and other Unix systems. Internally they are divided in
frontends and backends. The frontend knows nothing about the underlying
system and provides the same user interface across the different types of
systems.

==============================================================
8. Epiphany 1.1.1 Released

tray icon) and more.
Epiphany is the default GNOME web browser based on the mozilla rendering
engine. It aims to be simple and easy to use.

alternative than the available proprietary tools.

like to fix before releasing version 0.7. The current bugcount for 0.7
milestone stands at 31.

open protocol Jabber is a clean and easy-to-use interface, providing
users of the GNOME Desktop a friendly way to keep in touch with their
friends.
