Libravatar



Hello all!

I've noticed that one can set their profile picture on Damned Lies via
Gravatar, which is a non-free service. I thought that GNOME should also
offer this possibility via Libravatar, which is a free (as in freedom)
tool similar to Gravatar. See the link below.

GNOME itself is a free software and GNU project, so I believe it would
be natural and appropriate for it to prefer free solutions, such as
Libravatar. It could be an option alongside Gravatar, since outright
replacing it might break the existing profile pictures. It looks like
implementing support should be very simple though; see this page on the
API (based on Gravatar's).

What does everyone think of this? I made a bug report on the subject
(see the link below), but it looks like some feedback and discussion
from this list would be appropriate.
