Hi guys,
As I'm still waiting for a reply about my latest exception requests,
here is a quick summary.
- I requested [1] last week an exception to merge a branch fixing
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=611525
This branch doesn't affect documentation (the debug window is not an end
user tool) and introduces a new string not exposed to user.
As pointed out by Frédéric, I fixed [2] to make it more translator
friendly.
- Another string was suffering the same issue as reported on
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=611998
I have a fix [3] for this one as well.
- Johannes [4] pointed that some commits violated string freezes. As I
explained [5] those are my fault (I reviewed the branch without noticing
the string changes) but shouldn't affect GNOME users.
- Danielle has a patch [6] adding a proper title to the accounts
assistant. The assistant is not documented so this change doesn't affect
documentation.
- Last but not least, we are working on adding favorite people support
to Empathy [7]. This involves minor UI changes and 2 new strings (2 new
"fake" groups in the contact list: "Ungrouped" and "Favorite People")
BUT those are turned off by default (need to pass a flag during
configure) and requiers telepathy-logger which won't be used in GNOME
2.30.
MeeGo really needs these changes and merging the branch would make our
life much easier as we wouldn't have to maintain a big patch; they could
just use upstream 2.30.x releases.
As said, those changes WON'T affect GNOME users for now (they will be
integrated during the 2.31 cycle).
Please comment/approve/decline each request separately.
I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused by this. We are working
hard trying to deal with GNOME and MeeGo's requirements and deadlines
and I do my best to keep everyone happy.
Thanks a lot,
G.
