Use backslash to escape quotes.
E.g.:
git config --global alias.commitsl "commit sl.po -m \"Updated Slovenian
translation\" --author \"Name SecondName <name secondname email com>\""

You can also directly edit the [alias] section of your ~/.gitconfig
file.
