Testing GNOME 2.5

What's the best way to test GNOME 2.5? I tried jhbuild a couple of
months or so ago, and couldn't get it to work. I've tried GARNOME
before, with mixed but largely workable reults (when the appropriate
goat sacrifices were made). I don't wanna install XD unstable, but is
there a fourth way, or is GARNOME the recommended solution?
