Recommended string to use for «Do foo every<widget> timeunits» and similar

Example:
'Check for mail every <spinbox> {seconds|minutes|hours}'
'Check for mail every <spinbox> seconds'

This is untranslatable, because in Norwegian, 'second' and 'minute' are
neutral gender, while 'hour' is male, and the word for 'every' is
different for male and neutral genders. (And of course, it splits a
sentence into two separate strings, making matters worse for languages
which don't order their words like this.)

The second example is translatable, but still a bug, since it splits a
sentence.

Is there a recommended English sentence to ask for instead when filing
bugs?
