Maybe, you must use it for .mo files -- this doesn't mean every
translator has to fiddle with UTF-8 at this point... You can use
msgconv (from gettext-0.11-pre5) or a simple wrapper script calling
recode or iconv to convert legacy .po files to .mo files.
