Yes, I have the same experience.

I looked at the code of feb25 snapshot - it looks it's written correctly and
should work (i.e. it should return font with registry-charset corresponding
to current locale). The only reasons it doesn't work is that gtk_set_locale()
wasn't called in the component that draws text on tabs of sidebar - but that
function should have also called since gnome_init() calls it.. So, I should
say I don't understand at all why it doesn't use proper font..

One anonymous guy in one forum told me that he was able to solve the problem
by installing unicode ttf font (from M$ page) - lucida - and selected it as a
main font used by Nau - and he says it fixed ALL problems in Nautilus 1.0. He
even posted a screenshot - it really works.. I suggest you to try the same -
as for me, I didn't try it (since I don't have Nau 1.0 yet - and I can't
select font in my Feb25 snapshot - there is no GUI widget for that in version
I have). I'll try to research this on Tuesday..

PS: your MUA (pine it seems) is misconfigured - it doesn't put your return
email address (From: header) on the letters for some reason..
