upcoming gdm2 release

I'm planning a new gdm2 release soon.  This is from the gdm-2-2 branch.
There have been a bunch of fixes to this branch.  I will be doing a merge
to HEAD (which is the GNOME 2.0) version soon, and perhaps make a release of
that as well, but that's further down the road.
