I think that a summer meeting should be announced with much greater
advance.

Most people have already made their summer plans, and this summer (for
a combination of reasons, including the fact that Americans are
getting all the travel they missed after 9/11 and the airlines are
still not offering as many flights as they used to) travel needs to be
booked much more in advance.

I strongly recommend you postpone the meeting.  That way Boston will
also have less hot and humid weather :-)
