================
PENDING: Telsa's bugzilla documentation & MUSTFIX guide
=> will rewrite because builders are in the way
PENDING: Jeff to bug hackers about features. And document them (which is the
real distinction here).
=> more documentation required (very busy week, i have lots of stuff to do
for GNOME this weekend)
PENDING: Maciej to post about area coordinators MUSTFIX responsibilities
=> no one saw this, no discussion on list
PENDING: Jeff to post reminder for platform alpha 2 release
=> doing straight after meeting
PENDING: John to find out porting guide status from Malcolm
=> no contact thus far, will keep trying
DONE: Sander to sort through discussions and post almost-final core apps
list on Monday
=> done, pretty frozen list, no complaints
Actions
=======
ACTION: Jeff to post platform alpha 2 reminder immediately
ACTION: Jeff to update dot.plan website like a good little GNOMEr
ACTION: Jamin to post 5th Toe nomination request
Decisions & Discussions
=======================
* GNOME Office vs. 5th Toe applications
* Two criteria for gnome office:
- Should use gnome libraries; other apps could be listed on GNOME site, but
won't be regarded as 'official'
- Should be using GNOME 2.0 platform for this release (important things for
the apps such as fixing libxml1 issues, etc)
* Abiword, Gnumeric and Sodipodi seem to have similar release schedules
* Planning for good 1.4 platform release now, then quick port to GNOME 2.0
* Definitely not releasing at GNOME 2.0 date ('pretty near impossible')
* There should be lists of platform/core/5th toe/office for dot.plan
* List of 'hopeful' and 'blessed' GNOME Office apps to be posted first, then
post porting timeline as developers agree
* 5th Toe could do with nominations, post questions to the lists
* Inclusion requirements same as GNOME Office
* Should we require good docs? Pretty rough for applications, user level docs
are far more intricate than developer level docs (which are required for
libraries).
* Perhaps need good error handling instead... Nicholas Petreley reference (he
missed the point, didn't find the best examples, etc)
* Error 'reporting' vs. error 'handling' -> we should be aiming for error
handling, instead of giving unhelpful errors ("SaveYourself")
* These can be filed as critical bugs to bring back the idea of using bugs as a
metric for inclusion
* Multibyte character set testing: http://www.gnome.gr.jp/~nakai/i18n/
* What's the status of 1.4.1? Some critical packages blocking, need to talk to
Kjartan
* Greg and Tomas' ftp work is way cool, and they are owed beverages (11 times
beer = under the table, gnome developers * beer = physically impossible)
