The trouble with adding things to the bottom of a menu is that you ruin
the user's positional memory of where to find the (static) menu items
that ought to be there.

The bottom of a menu is just as important a reference point as the top
when designing a menu structure-- for example, we all expect to find
"Exit", "About" and "Preferences" at the bottom of the File, Edit and
Help menus in most applications, and if they've been moved somewhere
else since the last time you looked, you're going to get rather annoyed.
