Ugly looking icons that bends, twists and breaks
every rule can be very efficient in a gui.
When an icon is "neat" and with the same look and
style as other icons then users starts to make errors..
They try to interprete the content of the icon instead
of memorizing the action.
A lot of mil-systems use abstract symbols. Circles, squares,
triangles, etc. They are visually very easy to distinguish
but ugly as hell.
