ideas

ok, folks... seen some good ideas here for the gnome style guide... i
thought i'd throw in a few vague suggestions and hope they can wind up
(in some shape) in the final product:

* all user interface devices (buttons, menu items, etc) should always be
verbs telling the computer to do something. i. e. "ok" is not a valid
dialog box choice because it's unclear what you're telling the computer
to do. "quit" "save" and "cancel" are better options.

* if there are two ways of doing something, never choose between them
yourself. program both and let the user decide.

* make as many user interface options as possible accessible from the
command line.

* and this is not an interface issue, but should be mentioned everywhere
it possibly can be: make your applications industrial-strength. unix is
already in use running applications as critical as nuclear submarine
systems control. why not use gnome? it's possible; make your
applications ready for it.

end spewage.
