there is a fundamental difference in approach here. bowie thinks the style
guide has to be worked out by very few people, then put before the larger
audience to collect their thoughts and comments, after which the same cylce
starts again.

I believe it should be discussed within the community from the very start,
without periodic retreats of a few to create the next draft.


and I don't think I'm hypocritical because of that. I've said to bowie
several times that I don't see this as an attack on him, just as a different
way to do things and man, I love the free software world because it gives
everyone the ability to do things his way. and as usual, in the end we will
see who had the better approach.

besides - looks very much like I'm not the only one who prefers the
community way. so why not let everyone do it the way he prefers and make
sure the end result integrates the best parts from both ways? does that
really sound like a stupid idea?
