File menu

Hi,
you're all discussing whether Preferences should go into File menu or into
Edit or in its own menu entry, but why require a File menu ?
Wouldn't it be better to only require a "Main" menu where thinks like
Preferences or Close/quit would go into?
It could propably look bad to have only 2 or 3 menu items, but we can let
the WM handle this, so you get the Main menu as an icon on the title bar.
A Main menu is also consistent between applications, because apps like games,
who don't use Files don't need a File-Menu but can have a Main-Menu like all
te other apps.

BTW,excuse the bad english, I've English in school only since 1 year
