You should think about who is going to actually implement any of your
ideas - users or coders - and then revise your public relations, IMHO. 

Coders can't implement these things without more detail and discussion of
implementation and technical feasibility. It is also important that your
ideas take advantage of existing code as much as possible. They are
suggesting that you write some code yourself because that would probably
result in a more "down to earth" incremental approach to the desktop
revolution, and would make you familiar with the existing code and how it
can be reused.

It's great to please the users and that is the ultimate goal. But first
someone has to write the code. Not only that, *volunteers* have to write
the code, because they want to.
