Το GNOME είναι registered trademark για το GNOME Foundation από το 2006,

Το ζήτημα είναι ότι μπορείς να κάνεις trademark την ίδια λέξη σε προϊόντα που ανήκουν σε διαφορετικούς τομείς της οικονομίας.

και υπάρχουν ήδη άλλα trademark για το GNOME σε προϊόντα για άρδευση και για cloud computing.
