Re: Re-licensing the documentation provided by Sun Microsystems

Hi doc folks.

We have received a request reg. licensing of the gucharmap documentation.

Does anybody know whether a relicensing is still required?

Cheers,
  Tobi

Hi Brian,

I'm part of the GNOME documentation team, and currently I'm converting
the gucharmap documentation from docbook to mallard fomat, which
requires also to change the licence to Creative
Common Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0).
The problem is Oracle has some copyright on this material, and I
wanted to know if you could see with Oracle to grant its permission to
change the licence of the documentation.
Do you think it is possible ?

Thanks

Regards

The request was made to Brian Cameron, and Brian forwarded this to me
I have been trying to follow up with Baptiste if this is still something
that the GNOME community is pursuing which I could take up with Oracle
Legal.

Can someone from the board members help me confirm this ?
Since this is a legal matter, I thought I would start from the board
list, please let me know if I should be reaching out to someone else.

I have not been able to make it to GUADEC yet, but I am sure it is a
successful event, as ever.
