Thanks, Kat.

Hi all, Dave and I have volunteered to organise the docs hackfest in
UK this winter so that it's easier for non-Europeans to come as there
should be more direct flights available to UK than to our usual haunt
in Brno.

We would like to host the hackfest in Norwich (which is where we live,
as it's easier for us to organise it if we don't need to travel), but
it is also possible to have it at the Collabora offices in Cambridge
(or elsewhere, if you have a contact for a space for us to work in).
The only issue with hosting it in Cambridge is that accommodation
there is a bit on the (very) expensive side.

The plan at the moment is to work on user help. The updates for 3.10
have made it clear that we need to review gnome-user-docs to make sure
all of it is still needed and is up to date because much of the GNOME
Shell UI has changed in recent releases. Hopefully, we won't see quite
as many changes for 3.12.

Some of the help which we wrote early on for GNOME 3 is also now
somewhat outdated due to UI and functionality changes, and there are
also a number of new applications which are still undocumented.

We have produced some really good work at our previous hackfests and I
think this will be a great opportunity to catch up with all the recent
changes in GNOME.

In parallel with that, Frederic Peters and Martin Packman would like
to work on library-web (our help.gnome.org/library.gnome.org and
developer.gnome.org websites).

If you would like to come, please add yourself as soon as possible to
https://wiki.gnome.org/Hackfests/WinterDocs2014

The planned dates are for week leading up to FOSDEM. If you've never
been to FOSDEM, it's well worth going as it's probably the best FOSS
conference in Europe. It takes place over the first weekend of
February and I would recommend staying for Sunday night.

It looks like I won't be able to attend this one, but I've noted as such on the wiki page. I should be able to take a day or two off to participate remotely.

Cheers,

Jim
