Too many whitespaces in gnome-user-docs

Hi all,

while translating the new gnome-user-docs into German, I've encountered
the following problem:

A lot of strings show XML tagged parts such as <gui> etc </gui>, for
example. The additional whitespaces are not needed here. I'm unsure if
they will be displayed in Yelp. But it's confusing for translators,
anyway.
