I dare say it's theoretically possible, the PDF specification
supports accessible tagging, and Acrobat Reader 7 reportedly works
with Gnopernicus on Solaris and Linux[1]. Peter Korn at Sun is
probably a good person to talk to about this, but from what I
remember of previous conversations, it's a pretty serious amount of
work.
