The instructions for getting a CVS copy of sources out
are here:
http://live.gnome.org/Sysadmin/CVS/Anonymous
and that page has a link to details on making a patch.
I *guarantee* they are idiot-proof -- I've followed
them with success several times ;-)

I'll get your changes committed to CVS once you've
filed patches (this'll be the fun part, as I've not
worked with the other side of patches yet!)
