Um...
If the panel has no vacant space, and no hide buttons,
how are you meant to get to its properties and get it
to show the hide buttons?
Short answer: you can use the keyboard; focus anything on the panel
(by clicking it, or using Ctrl-Alt-Tab), then hit Ctrl+F10.
