I'm not entirely sure what you mean.
If GNOME chooses to switch to a different application
for the music player in the future, we'll have to
rewrite docs anyway.
There's a bit of a problem with app names anyway, I
think. I launch 'Archive Manager' from the apps menu,
and I get a window called 'File Roller'. It's a bit
surprising for the new user.

I thinking in  write the  documentation a way  that it could be used by any Desktop User, with out worry about what system he/she is using.

Why write for a "Desktop User"?
The documentation could be used by other projects like XFCE, KDE and why not Windows too. May be its too ambisous but could increase the documantators working in a common task.

The user could be familiar with other projects like KDE, and want a try with GNOME, if he could find the "same way for a task" could be easy to switch or simply use it (may be he/she is using a desktop of a GNOME user). This could help the integretion in the FreeDesktop.org project.
