A matter of GIFs and PNGs

Hi all

I remember asking this question on #docs in irc.gimp.org

I downloaded the docbook, jade, sgml-common etc rpms to get DocBook
started on my linux box. Then as the GDP homepage suggested, I downloaded
the "gdp-both.dsl" file and installed, so that I could use the GDP
variant of the DocBook DTD which allows me to use PNGs. Now DocBook
supplies GIFs and uses them in the HTML, if you tell it to use GIFs for those
"Next", "Home", "Previous" commands. My suggestion is that why not GDP
supply PNG equivalent of those coz GNOME and probably the whole of the
GNU, FSF (and whatever) community support PNGs (You all know why).
Of course we could all do this ourselves ( I could use gif2png prog to
convert them, and change the dsl files, or whatever file.). But if GDP
supplies them, a newbie can have less troubles.

Anyways, just a thought.

PEACE
Archit aka bighead
