gnome desktop starts slow

Hi, all,
The gnome window manager is rather slow to start on my Red Hat 6.0,
most of time it takes about 2 minutes to get started, during that period,
the screen stays blank. Looks like it has trouble in finding some servers.
Any body knows a solution?
