bindtextdomain and textdomain

What is the appropriate parameters for the bindtextdomain and
textdomain functions?

Is there a good source of documentation for these functions?  I have
not been able to isolate a good description of the functions and the
parameters.  

Thanks for the comments on the tutorial so far.  I'll be updating the
pages with the corrections next week with a few more pages.
