Yes, I was under the impression that before gnome-core 1.1.0 is released,
the applets will be removed from it, except for a couple (gen-util,
something else).

Indeed.  I think that the "more mature" applets would be better off in the
gnome-applets module, since they would need releases less often.  Newer
applets should probably be released on their own at first.
