in the 0.8.x series, the configuration is made via the GNOME control
panel. So, either go to Applications->Desktop
Preferences->Advanced->Database configuration in your GNOME 2 menu, or
run gnome-database-properties.

yes, gnomedb-fe does not exist anymore. gnome-db is its replacement, and
gnomedb-mgr doesn't exist neither, gnome-database-properties replaces
it.
