It does more things, you should see it like a library that do all the work, the gnome part is only a graphical interface. I
mean, this will permit that you could use in a ncurser program (for example).

At the graphical interface (in our case the gnome interface).
Then the graphical interface pass those options to the gda-report library, which generates the xml file. Then with this XML
file and the DTD you render this report.
This is the way i see it.
