        Just to add a 'nod' - we do need a timeout for two reasons:

        * Monikers do a lot of activation as they parse instantiating and
        then freeing several relatively small objects.

        * The cost of starting oafd is really considerable - it takes a   
        chunk of time, and CPU to parse all that XML for me.
