bonobo-activation won't build - Makefile problem in server directory

I checked out bonobo-activation from cvs yesterday, and it won't build. I
suspect there is a bug in the server directory Makefile.am or something.
this is what I get:

$ ( cd server ; make )

../xml-i18n-merge -o ../po Bonobo_CosNaming_NamingContext.server.in
Bonobo_CosNaming_NamingContext.server
Merging translations into Bonobo_CosNaming_NamingContext.server.
cd .. \
  && CONFIG_FILES=server/Makefile CONFIG_HEADERS= /bin/sh ./config.status
config.status: creating server/Makefile
../xml-i18n-merge -o ../po Bonobo_CosNaming_NamingContext.server.in
Bonobo_CosNaming_NamingContext.server

and so on... it just keeps on looping...

I have autoconf 2.52 and automake 1.4-p5 installed.
