Bad parameter checking?

I tried using bonobo_property_bag_set_value() and 
bonobo_property_bag_notify_listeners(), but they fail because the type of the
arg that I'm passing MATCHES the type that is in the property bag!

Is the g_return_if_fail() call in bonobo backward, or am I using it wrong?
