The bangs are the item moniker, which access an item of its parent
moniker. So in this case, the file moniker would give you
quake-scores.gnumeric. The item moniker would give you the January
element (a sheet) and the next item moniker would give you
the Winner element (a cell). There are still some issues with the
seperators right now.
