# as the chained method separator

Right now, URIs like http://www.foo.com/some_file#gzip: are somewhat
ambiguous; it's not clear right away if the part after the # sign is a
chained method, or an HTML fragment identifier. Technically you _can_
disambiguate by noting that `:' is not a legal character ina fragment
identifier, thus, if the portion after the #-sign contains a colon, it
must be a chained scheme. However if we changed the chained method
separator to '##' instead of '#', I think things would be even more
clear. I think it would be good to make this change before GNOME 1.4
(So we don't have to break the syntax of URIs saved in various places
later); if we agree, I'll file a bug to that effect and/or make the
change.

(Cc'd gnome-components-list since it would be nice to change the
moniker syntax to match if we make this change).

Maciej
