The gdk patch was obviated by a fix Owen wrote and applied.
plug_destroy_cb should be called if the container dies unexpectedly
while the component is still alive.  Is this not so?  It used to
work (with the gdk patch I wrote).  If not, feel free to change it to
use delete_event.
