I have read the flick papers, and as far as I can ascertain, their
"optimizing compiler" is mostly just a big term that they bandy about.
That doesn't mean we *shouldn't* use flick for an IDL compiler, just that
I don't see its use giving us any inherent advantages over writing our
own. Best reason to use it is because it is probably the only decent &
maintained IDL compiler out there.
