I see that gnome-color-manager now detects my ColorMunki Display (the

I think it's the same bug reported here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=1000910
[ 441.180429] hid-generic 0003:0765:5020.0002: hiddev0,hidraw0: USB HID

If this is a bug to do with accessing the instrument as opposed to
a bug in gnome-color-manager, then no, you have a different
device with a different driver (an i1d3, not an i1d2), so the
problem is probably not related.

Try testing it directly on ArgyllCMS V1.6.1 and see if
it works there. (FWIW the ColorMunki Display seems to
work fine on my Linux test system with V1.6.1).

Similar advice goes for RH bug 1000910 - you'll get a much
faster response (probably infinitely faster - in classic Linux
distro fashion such bug reports rarely get triaged and passed upstream)
if you test directly using ArgyllCMS and report any
resulting problems to the ArgyllCMS mailing list or directly to me.

If the instruments work OK with ArgyllCMS, then reporting it
as a bug in gnome-color-manager is appropriate.
