"panel" problem

I was unsure whether this is a bug or something that I did.  I couldn't find
where I could track this error message down at either.  

Problem:
 	I was starting up x windows and an error message box popped up.  The
error message says 'Application "panel" (process 1747) has crashed due to a
fatal error.  (Segmentation fault)'.

Any ideas?  Thanks a lot.
