One important thing to note is that the C files in this tarball expects gtk+ 3.8 to be used, and will segfault at startup with gtk+ 3.6. This is caused by recent vala versions using g_object_unref instead of gtk_icon_info_free to free GtkIconInfo, which has become valid with gtk+ 3.7.10. Unfortunately, on older gtk+ versions, this is invalid and causes Boxes to crash. One way around this (which I used to build the f18 packages) has been to compile using configure --enable-vala && make vala-clean Christophe
