===============
* What is Orca?
===============
Orca is a free, open source, flexible, and extensible screen reader that
provides access to the graphical desktop via user-customizable
combinations of speech, braille, and/or magnification. Orca development
has been led by the Sun Microsystems, Inc., Accessibility Program Office
via continued engagement with its end users and generous contributions
from the Mozilla Foundation and wonderful community members.
The Orca v2.24.3 release is targeted for the GNOME v2.24.3 release and
requires the latest at-spi/pyatspi infrastructure from GNOME v2.24.3.
You can also read more about Orca at http://live.gnome.org/Orca.
Note: GNOME 2.24.3 is the last of the official release in the GNOME 2.24
series (see http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointTwentyfive). Within the next
couple of months, however, we hope to make another bug-fix-only Orca
2.24.4 release containing more improvements for the ARIA support. This
will be for those operating system vendors that want to continue
shipping GNOME 2.24, yet with some upstream bug fixes for Orca.
