Pan is a newsreader that has many features for easy news reading, posting,
and downloading binary attachments. It recently earned the Good Newskeeping
Seal of Approval. http://www.superpimp.org/features.html has the entire
sales pitch.
This is the first stable release of Pan in almost five months and contains
a long list of new features including .newsrc support, offline posting,
user folders, a Gravity-like rules tool, Agent-and-Gravity-like keyboard
navigation and "zooming" of panes, word wrap in the message composer,
smaller and more stable data files, smaller use of system memory and CPU,
faster downloading, marking read/unread, threading, and deleting of articles,
much better handling of binary attachments, and a longer list of bug fixes.
Thanks to the RIAA, 0.9 may be the last version to decode binary attachments.
Downloads and information about Pan can be found at http://www.superpimp.org/
cheers,
Charles
