Text reader

Hi, folks.

Is there any text reader integrated with GNOME?
A few ages ago, I wrote (just for learning python) a simple text reader
- frontend for festival (its name is fala).

I'm asking this because frequently people come and ask for such a tool.
If is exists, it should be installed by default on distros.
