Hi Bryen:
Yikes. This sounds like the X Server might be crashing. What OS
distribution and version are you using?

Are you aware that Xorg already has integrated support for numpad

Okay, I got curious and tried the shift-numlock trick. It sort of
works, but now when I press a numpad key it logs me out of GNOME.
How
do I undo this?
Err, what you are saying is contradictory: what is "sort of working"?
Which numpad key has this behavior?
Samuel

Very briefly, the numpad functions as we'd want it to as a mouse. But
then almost immediately, it logs out. It has happened on 3 of the
keys so far, and I don't dare go near my numpad right now :-)
